- No captions at the first football game (sometimes it has a giant screen with tiny captions)
- Other athletic events also don’t have captions.
- Any employee, staff, student, faculty, guest, member of the public, etc can report an access barrier at U-M here: https://ecrt-umich-accommodate.symplicity.com/activity_provider_request/
- Plans have already been made to reach out to athletics - Stay tuned!
- The football stadium got new large screens but put tiny captions in the corner.
- Hard to see
- The stadium staff were unable to address accessibility concerns during the game.
- Legal requirement for captions (from caption vendor, so take with a grain of salt)
- Questions: Why are bars required to have tv captions but not U-M?
- Ordinance on captions
- Ann Arbor ordnance (possibly not applicable to U-M?) Date of adoption was February 6, 2017

- 5th Annual Center for Disability Health and Wellness Virtual Disability Research Symposium will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- The focus is on knowledge translation and community engagement.
- Researchers will provide brief presentations on their research findings in a way that communicates results back to participants, the community, and other researchers. There will also be the opportunity to engage participants to facilitate the interpretation and application of results for a limited number of presenters. As part of the day, we will be engaging representatives from community organizations to discuss their community’s history, priorities, concerns, and interest in research collaborations.
- While we are prioritizing presentations by the Center’s IDEAL RRTC and other CDHW-associated grants, we will also open this opportunity to research investigators and trainees from U-M and CDHW affiliated projects.
- Contact [email protected] for more information.
- Native American Panel Discussion
- The Center for Disability Health and Wellness AHEAD-DC project is planning a panel discussion about the healthcare experiences of Native American/American Indians living with disabilities. Our goal is to offer a welcoming environment to share, listen and learn from others to enhance our understanding of how healthcare services are administered, received, and perceived. This event will be held on Wednesday, November 6th from 3:00pm-4:30pm on Zoom.
- We are looking for two types of assistance:
- If you have conducted or participated in any research with Native American communities and would like to join us to plan this event or provide input informally, please let us (India Foy and myself) know.
- If you can connect us to any state or national tribal leaders, we would greatly appreciate it.
